Regardless of what you call it, either Football or Soccer, our love of the game has a very real effect on our lives. People choose to define themselves by it, they talk about it, decide who they like and who they don’t like by it and then others will live by it, die by it and will ink their skin for it. The dedication and loyality to this wonderous Game goes back a very long way.
We choose the teams we love for different reasons – sometimes they don’t make sense. Mum kissed a boy from that team, dad went to school with someone, old uncle Teddy used to work with that guy from the ’60s. Its not what team is the best in the League, but what team is Best for you. Football isn’t about being rational, it’s about passion.
Thats what I love about the Game, the Diversity. 20 teams Competing and Fighting it out to determine who is best. How on any match day at any given stadium, 40,000 people can come together to laugh, cry, howl and sweat blood over their love for their team and the game. Would I love to kick a team out? For sure, but it wouldn’t be the same game then. We love our teams and we love to hate teams even more and we wouldn’t have it any other way. If any game ever deserves to be celebrated, this is it.
